Waukesha County Behavioral Health Services, part of Waukesha County Health and Human Services, helps county residents who are facing mental health or substance use challenges. They offer emergency care, outpatient treatment, and community support programs. All of their services are certified by the state of Wisconsin.
Their outpatient care uses therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-focused counseling, and medication-assisted treatment. These treatments help people manage emotions, handle stress, and build healthier habits with strong, well-rounded support.

For women with substance use disorders, the Women’s Health and Recovery Project (WHARP) offers free, family-friendly counseling and support. Clients also work with a peer specialist and recovery navigator to find helpful community resources.
Waukesha County also runs a co-responder program. In this program, mental health professionals work with law enforcement to respond to crisis calls. This helps people in crisis get the right care quickly while easing pressure on emergency rooms.
