Minnesota House

Minnesota House is a residential treatment center for adults with substance use disorders, using a wide variety of holistic and evidence-based therapy approaches. The center is named after the Minnesota Model, a biopsychosocial addiction model that prioritizes abstinence as the first goal of treatment. It blends the 12-Step program with psychiatric and medical care to build a strong foundation that is necessary for the long-term recovery of all individuals.
Minnesota House facilitates group, individual, and family therapy sessions to aid each individual in their recovery journey. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), physiotherapy, relaxation therapy, 12-Step facilitation, and art and dance therapy are provided to patients to give them the tools needed to navigate the outside world and possible triggers. Their comprehensive approach prioritizes empathetic care and a non-judgmental atmosphere to provide the greatest level of comfort.
Located in Western Cape, South Africa, the Minnesota House has room for a maximum of 15 patients at a given time, ensuring that each individual is able to receive the highest level of care based on their unique needs. A 10-minute drive from the nearest airport, the staff also provides transportation assistance. Amenities include nutritious meals, outdoor lounging areas, and recreational activities both on and off-site. Minnesota House is situated at the base of the Outeniqua Mountains, with lush views of the Garden Route district in Western Cape, providing patients with a peaceful escape from the throes of addiction.
