About Area Substance Abuse Council Heart of Iowa

Heart of Iowa is a residential program under Area Substance Abuse Council (ASAC) and serves individuals in Iowa. The program is for pregnant women and women with children in need of substance use disorder treatment. Women are able to bring their children, so they can receive treatment while getting support with their children. The program consists of 1-on-1 counseling and group work while learning sober living and life skills.
In order to be eligible for this program, an assessment indicating a need for residential treatment is required. An individual can provide this documentation directly to ASAC or schedule an assessment with ASAC. There is often a waitlist for this program, but the ASAC treatment team will work with individuals to ensure everyone receives the appropriate level of care as quickly as possible. Once in the program, residents are expected to set goals, attend and participate in group meetings, and comply with program rules.
