Harbor MAT

Harbor MAT is an outpatient program that provides same-day treatment by appointment or walk-in for people who are struggling with opioid or heroin addiction. Their skilled team of doctors, nurses, and outpatient counselors develop tailored treatment plans based on evidence-based and holistic ways to treat opioid addiction with medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and individual or group therapies.
Harbor MAT's treatment professionals address and lessen the physical symptoms of opiate withdrawal using two separate drugs with similar effects, Methadone and Suboxone. Their Methadone maintenance program entails a daily dose of Methadone, a long-acting synthetic opiate taken orally in liquid form. Methadone users do not experience any changes in perception or euphoria, and they may function in an alert and active manner without experiencing withdrawal symptoms. Methadone serves as a therapeutic recovery aid, assisting in successful heroin detoxification through gradually lowering doses over a period of 1-6 months. The second medication offered, Suboxone, is delivered daily as a sublingual film. The experienced staff at Harbor MAT can help individuals determine which medication may best fit their treatment needs.
Along with medication-assisted treatment, the care team at Harbor MAT provides personalized substance abuse disorder treatment plans. Looking at addiction as a chronic and life-threatening disease, their approach involves individual, group, or family counseling services providing ongoing recovery support to individuals, their families, and their communities. Any individual who is physically and psychologically dependent on opioids and over the age of 18 can be treated at Harbor MAT, including pregnant women. They also provide comprehensive HIV case management on-site for those who may need it.
