Alternative Counseling Method

Located just off Route 35 and a few blocks east of Route 18 in Neptune City, New Jersey, Alternative Counseling Method serves adults with substance use disorders (SUD). The outpatient and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) offer up to 9 hours or more of weekly counseling, including group, individual therapy, and drug screening. Clients build relapse prevention plans while working toward sobriety, personal goals, and community roles.
Using the evidence-based Living in Balance curriculum, the center combines cognitive, behavioral, and experiential therapies. Individuals receive structured individual and group counseling, educational sessions, and regular drug tests to reinforce accountability. The holistic approach supports emotional, mental, and physical health, encouraging self-knowledge and coping skills that foster long-term resilience and empowerment.
Clients can also access substance use assessments for personal, legal, or child welfare needs. The center emphasizes relapse prevention planning, personal strengths, and goal-setting to promote independence and community reintegration.
