Allegheny Childrens Initiative

Allegheny Children’s Initiative provides intensive behavioral health services (IBHS) for children and adolescents facing mental health challenges, including autism. Care is individualized and delivered directly in the home, school, and community settings where support is needed most. Following a comprehensive assessment, a tailored treatment plan is created to address each child’s unique needs and circumstances.
Using a strength-based and trauma-informed philosophy, the center’s approach builds on what families already do well. Clinicians trained in therapies like applied behavior analysis (ABA) and structural family therapy help families improve communication and develop healthy coping skills. A dedicated team delivers flexible, real-world support in the child's own environment, empowering families to manage long-term behavioral and mental health needs effectively.
The Kids’ Club & Moms’ Empowerment group offers a safe space for families exposed to intimate partner violence. The center also provides blended service coordination, where staff help families navigate complex resources like school, medical, and social services. This hands-on support ensures families receive comprehensive and well-organized care for their child's specific needs.
